Terms of Service

1. The service

Realms of Satheria ("the Game") is an online text-based game provided as-is, as a labor of love. We aim for it to be available and stable, but we make no guarantee of uptime, and features may change, be rebalanced, or be removed as the world evolves.

2. Accounts

Registration requires an invitation code. You are responsible for your account credentials and for what happens under your account. One person per account; sharing or selling accounts is not permitted. You must provide accurate information at registration, including your date of birth.

3. Conduct

Be a good neighbor. The following will get an account suspended or banned at our discretion: harassment or hate directed at other players; cheating, exploiting bugs for advantage, or automating play; attempting to breach, probe, or overload the service; using character names, guild names, or messages that are abusive or unlawful. If you find an exploit, report it on the feedback page — reporters are thanked, exploiters are shown the door.

4. Virtual goods & membership

Gold, items, characters, ratings, and everything else inside the Game are virtual, have no monetary value, and remain part of the Game. They may not be sold or traded for real-world value. Optional paid membership is billed through PayPal under the price and interval shown at purchase; it may be canceled at any time and remains active until the end of the paid period. Payments fund the world's upkeep and are non-refundable except where required by law.

5. Permadeath (yes, really)

Character death — in battle, in the depths, or of old age — is a designed, permanent feature of the Game and not grounds for restoration or refund. Memorials are kept; heirs carry on.

6. Termination & changes

We may suspend or terminate accounts that break these terms. We may update these terms; material changes will be noted on this page with a new date, and continued play constitutes acceptance.

Privacy Policy

What we collect

Your account details (username, email, hashed password, date of birth, country, gender as provided), your gameplay data (characters, actions, and everything your characters do in the world), messages you send through the contact and feedback forms, and standard technical logs. Passwords are stored only as one-way hashes. Payment details are handled by PayPal and never touch our servers; we store only the subscription status PayPal reports to us.

How it's used

To run the Game: authentication, gameplay, leaderboards (which display character and account names to other players), moderation, and replying to messages you send us. We do not sell your data, we do not run advertising, and we do not share your information with third parties except payment processing (PayPal) and where the law requires.

Cookies

We use a session cookie to keep you signed in, and an optional "remember me" cookie if you ask for one. No tracking or advertising cookies.

Your choices

You can request a copy of your data or the deletion of your account and its data via the contact page. Note that some in-world traces (a memorial, a guild's history) reference character names that other players' stories depend on; deletion removes your personal account data and unlinks it from those records.

Age

The Game is intended for players aged 16 and over. Accounts found to belong to younger players will be closed and their data removed.
